CCR?

I saw most of it. But I just wanted them to show the live material. So everything else made me impatient.

It's unfinished.

Re: What Are You Listening To Today?

Got the Revolver set.

Went straight for the "sessions" stuff.  Several nice additions.  Very good new outtakes of "Got to Get You Into My Life", "And Your Bird Can SIng" and "She Said She Said".  Remixes of all of the stuff from Anthology here in better sound and with additional touches that correct some of those poor decisions (like the full outtake of "Here There and Everywhere" without seguing into the released version).  The acoustic "Love You To", which is interesting but understandably spare, and a (too) brief snatch of a sitar/tabla rehearsal.  Also, in addition to the unexpected Lennon demo for "Yellow Submarine" is another demo recorded with Paul at John's attic studio of the completed song, with additional unused backing vocals of "Look out!" and "Get down!" after each chorus refrain.  There's an instrumental version of "Rain" played at the natural speed.  This song is known for having its rhythm track slowed down, giving extra texture to the guitars and drums.  However, this version also includes the bass, and I'm pretty sure the bass was recorded separately as an overdub.  Maybe I'm wrong and Paul is playing it very high on the fretboard, but it doesn't quite sound right.  Also interesting that "I'm Only Sleeping" used a slowed down rhythm track.  Not surprising at all, but a detail that was missed in Lewisohn's Recording Sessions book.

The sound texture is absolutely incredible, and the main feature of this release.  The sitar/tabla of "Love You To" have a sting and pop, the "Eleanor Rigby" strings have a crunch, the "Got To Get You Into My Life" brass has a breath that is far more enhanced than has been the case prior.  And others have already noted that Ringo's drums sound fantastic.

The new stereo mix sounds great, but don't expect anything too radical.  In fact, I imagine that most people will be unable to tell much of a difference.  The instruments are set wider than what was capable from the original four-track tape, but the balance is practically the same.  Giles Martin clearly didn't want to mess around with a good thing.  For the most part, it'll probably be considered the definitive stereo mix.  I only have one minor issue.  On "She Said She Said", they split the twin electric guitars wide onto the left and right, but this only makes them weaker than the combined impact.  It's worth noting that the twin electric guitars of "And Your Bird Can Sing" remain combined here, which is fortunate, and a good example of why they shouldn't be separated.

Re: What Are You Listening To Today?

It's weird how the official version of a song that was put to tape, is both a liberation in finally finding the song it was always meant to be, as well as the death of any other song it could have been.

It's why I tread cautiously towards this kind of deep introspection of alternate takes. It obviously fascinates me as a fan, but disorients me as a person stuck in this particular present.

What could have been, what should have been, what nerf de derf.

Apples!
