Just a heads-up that May 13th will be the premiere of the new season of Kids in the Hall after *shuffles pages* 27 years, dropping on Amazon Prime.

I wonder if the stupid fucks who applauded the Will Smith slap, are on board this stupid fuck shit? And if this kinda stupid-fuck shit perhaps continues to escalate, at what point they will stop being such stupid fucking fuck-shits?

There's a part of me that also hopes that people (maybe the same people since most people are not consistent) will not take too much glee in cheering on the boot-stomping that this asshole received.  I mean, I get it, he's an asshole, had a knife, god knows what he was willing or capable of doing, but, for me, the sight of about 7 or 8 dudes stomping this guy, and then looking at his wretched body getting loaded on the ambulance, is something that also appeals to the, shall we call them, politely fascist among us.  I don't sympathize with the guy, but I'm not going to co-sign on those getting their rocks off through vicarious violence either way.

Oh, I agree. It's all this endless cycle of wanting to see physical punishment doled out on those who we disagree with. And it is becoming clearer and clearer, most people have lost the ability to properly respond by forming arguments or articulating worthwhile opinions of their own (sadly, considering the kind of discourse we see on most social media, punches actually may be a more nuanced way of communicating for some these days).

Like, I get it, assaulting people is a super instinctive thing to want to do to those we dislike or hate. And thinking is harder. But it's all just so unbelievably pathetic. But also, and most distressingly, the most obvious outcome of how wrong headed people have become, of all political stripes, in how they can find threats to their well being everywhere and in everything.

The troubling reality is that violence almost can have the appearance of being  an understandable response when we have begun to treat differing opinions as being akin to physical violations. What else could possibly be expected when the general public has begun believing a fucking joke (regardless of context or purpose) poses grievous harm to their well being. I imagine the argument is hitting a comedian who says something you don't like is self defence of some sort. Which is of course absurd, but here we are. When we give traction to the notion that Chappelle is setting back transgendered rights with his routine, then it can seem like an inherently noble  thing to rush the stage with a knife. They are protecting a community. From the violence of a joke.

Dude was an aspiring rapper.  Maybe he was mad about those Da Baby jokes.

OMG has everybody here seen the picture of this guy's absurdity of a weapon? The knife that looks like a gun?

I can picture him, pressed against the plexiglass display case in some gas station. Transfixed. At long last, there it is. His Excalibur.
His Die–Cast Destiny. It calls to him. It sings to him.

From beneath his spongy hair, he locks eyes with the shopkeeper...

I did get a bit of a thrill that Dave got a couple of shots in.  Why not?  As he was the one assaulted, rather blindsidedly.  That wouldn't fall into the category of "disagreement", just justice of a sort.  But seeing the more old school street-style beat down, in silhouette off the side of the stage, goes back to the kind of "street justice" that is less defensible.  But it did look like he had a gun, so it's hard to not see the emotion of the moment.  I don't have much sympathy for the bastard, but, like clockwork, there's a long stream of online toadies talking about how maybe they didn't beat the guy enough.  I mean, he had three limbs that were't even broke!

I just saw the video of him on the stretcher... EWWWW!
His arm is bent all the way the wrong way!
Looks like they gave dude the swivel–arm battle grip!

“Now you’re gonna have to learn with your left hand.”

From that KTLA article:

“It’s unclear how Lee made it past security with a replica gun and into the Hollywood Bowl, where guests usually pass through metal detectors and have their bags checked."

“Of course we didn’t find the knife on him. It was hidden inside a replica of a gun.”

Clicked on the thread in the other place, saw the words "Soros backed" and immediately left the thread.

Not really how metal detectors are supposed to work, is it?

I literally came here to say the same.

I can't tell if that guy is some know nothing who just keeps parroting back what he is hearing in his dumb-beyond-words echo chamber. Or if this is some deliberate effort to troll literally every single, non-political thread he shows up in.

Either way, no thanks to all of it.

This caught me completely off guard when I saw a commercial for it yesterday.

There are good things in this world, after all.

It is not allowed to disappoint me.

It's pretty clear, and consistent, what Steel is up to here, right in line with his anti-vax, anti-woke conspiracisms.

But....isn't it a little bit bullshit for the LA DA to not press felony charges?  "A spokesman for Gascon said a review of the evidence did not show felony conduct."  I mean, given Chappelle's stature and fame, couldn't it be considered an assassination attempt?  Compentancy shouldn't be a factor in the decision (ala Squeeky Fromme's attempt on Gerald Ford), this certainly appears to have been intended as a very public and high-profile violent attack on a public figure.

Soros is a non-sequitor here, but Gascon is still a fucking rube.

Urgh, I hate to say it.  It does seem weird.  How did Lee get past security with a weapon?  And now getting a light sentence (max 1 year in jail, and no way he serves half that).  I don't know man.  It's unfortunate that this is the kind of thing that has morons like Steel and Yarn chompin at the 'liberal agenda' bit.

Some quotes from Chappelle and Rock at a secret show last night at the LA Comedy Store's Belly Room:

Dave: "At least you got smacked by someone of repute.  I got smacked by a homeless guy with leaves in his hair."

Chris: "I got smacked by the softest nigga who ever rapped."

Dave: "I hate this city."

And here the 'other place' post which made me leave immediately:

a Wolf of Wall Street-type redemption narrative where they spent all the money and then did something worthwhile with themselves

Watching movies is hard work, folks.

It will not surprise you to learn that the author of that post had absolutely unhinged takes on the slap and Ukraine. Their presence is pretty much a guarantee that a thread is going to shit.
