I missed a couple of milestones last week.  Jimi Hendrix would have turned 82 last Wednesday, while the 25th represented the 50th anniversary of Nick Drake's untimely death.







 

The clip I posted in the Morgue for Zakir Hussain, from his Shanti LP debut, unfortunately omits the lovely last 90 second coda which was apparently segmented off as a separate track called "I Do Believe".

I'll offer a more recent McLaughlin/Shakti session of an original Zakir Hussain composition as a better example for his memory.
