Re: What Are You Listening To Today?

If you have the deluxe vinyl from a couple of years back, you might have this on the bonus disc.

Re: What Are You Listening To Today?

Found a Thelonious Monk and also an Au Pairs album I was looking for in a box of records some guy on the side of the road was selling. Also a crappy Van Morrison I didn't have, but he gave that one to me for free.

Re: What Are You Listening To Today?

Happy birthday to Big Macca.

They just officially released the soundtrack to Wings' One Hand Clapping 1974 special, which essentially amounts to an in-studio live concert.  The most interesting aspect is that this represents the brief period when the band included Geoff Britton, who may have been their strongest drummer, but since he was a teetotaling health nut who was into karate, the band ended up laughing him out of the line-up.  Britton's most significant performance was on the otherwise slight "Junior's Farm" single, so this concert shows what he was capable of bringing to their sound, because this iteration of the band never performed any proper live shows, and they did manage the best version of the obscure rocker, "Soily".

Much of this album has been bootlegged, including many of the rehearsals, which unfortunately this official release doesn't include, including this semi-classic.

But regardless, we can all agree that this unaired special would have been much better than his James Paul McCartney TV special from 1973

Re: What Are You Listening To Today?

(It probably isn't a coincidence that "Suicide" was quite specifically omitted from the offical release - being excised out of a longer medley - for likely similar reasons that the above video clip includes a Youtube preemptive warning on "self-harm".)

The Spanish recording stands out for its musical choices, including in instrumentation.

Ahhh, the 90s... simpler times...

Still cracks me up. "Man if I get another VCR I'ma hurt somebody."

I've also been listening to some James Chance and the Contortions, after what  you guys posted over at the Morgue.
