Speaking of authentic Black music tied to Civil Rights era. Unfortunately Youtube doesn't have the individual tracks from this jazz album, In Movement, from Jack DeJohnette, Ravi Coltrane and Matthew Garrison, but they do a stunning version of "Alabama".

I've been listening the shit out of Darkness at the Edge of Town.
Best Bruce? Who cares. It's all I'm listening to.

Wild and Innocent has generally been my go to, closely followed by Born to Run. Darkness as already looming around in the background, but it came into full focus recently.
I honestly don't listen to anything else by him. Not really.

I forgot to mention that I bought my first Stereolab on vinyl about a year ago.
Blind bought it and it's great.
I don't remember the name, but it has a brown cover.

I hope it's Cobra and Phases Groop Play Voltage in the Milky Night. Lots of good tunes - "Free Design", "Infinity Girl", "Velvet Water", "Blue Milk".
Or maybe Refried Ectoplasm, with "Exploding Head Movie", "John Cage Bubblegum" and their collab with Nurse With Wond "Animal or Vegetable".
