Yet another example of me maybe not judging a book by its cover. What could a seemingly 12 year old drummer and some Trixie Matel looking keyboardist possibly bring to the jazz game....
There are moments here and there where they fall a little flat for me, but overall, I was pretty impressed.

I'm finally vibing on the idea that Axis is Hendrix's best record.

Maybe not "best" but subtlely essential. I still think that "Little Miss Lover" single-handedly invented Funkadelic.

It's such a shame to see The Roots prostitute themselves for the NBC 4th of July contractual obligations.
We need some counterprogramming.

Little Miss Lover came on as I started writing this post. I don't know what I was originally going to write here but now I've got to say you're not wrong about the Funkadelic thing.
I didn't know what song you were talking about when I read this, or what it sounded like, because like I said I don't listen to this record much. But within three seconds of it starting to play tonight I was 'oh, I bet that's the one'. And it was.

"Alice in My Fantasies" has already been posted somewhere earlier in the thread, but Funkadelic bit "Little Miss Lover"'s middle-eight riff and a bit of "Izabella" to boot.
It's never been confirmed but I would like to hope that Hendrix heard the first Westbound Funkadelic LP which came out in the spring of 1970 when Jimi was touring the area. I'm sure he would have approved.

The kind of song you can build a house to.
